So this has what’s happened in the last couple of days.
Last Friday it was Lisa’s birthday!!! And even though we’ve known for how long that her birthday was coming up we got her present at the last minute… Thursday after school. (Oh btw Lud, I still owe you for that. Remind me to pay you back. And I also owe Becca a dollar and Dhruti $5. Must take out some money before the end of the week!) Sian, Ludwig, Rebecca, Zak and I got Lisa a locket (engraved with our intials) and a charm bracelet with an 18 charm. Incidentally, Lisa (B) got Lisa the exact same charm bracelet with a cute pink diamante heart charm. But that’s ok because now Lisa has two pretty bracelets. So on Friday night we all went over to Lisa’s to hang out and stuff and it was here that I concluded that Lud, Becca and I are the equivalent to Lisa’s “fat friend”… The friend that doesn’t seem to fit in with any of the other friends and you kinda look at her and say “why is that fat girl friends with her?” except in our case there are three of us and none of us are fat (that last point may be debateable in my case). Anyway I was thinking about it because everyone else was talking, like normal people, and Lud, Becca and I were doing something like retards… as usual. Sorry if we cause you any embarrasment Lisa.
I also made another observation (wow, I was on fire!) when quite a few people had already arrived and I was still the only Asian, in fact I was the only non-European… to tell you the truth this wasn’t the first time I’d been this situation. But Lud kindly pointed out that Jeff would be arriving later so I wouldn’t be ethnically isolated. Later on we were talking to Jeff about this topic when we came into the debate which I knew was bound to happen sometime… Who was more Asian/Kiwi, me or Jeff? I’m going to share a little secret with you, I’d actually thought about this before, as odd as it was. I’d even complied a list (in my head) about the points I’d use when I was confronted by this arguement. I didn’t care about being more European because I’m kinda sick of hearing it from my parents’ friend, my friends, my family etc. BUT OF COURSE JEFF HAS TO GO AND BE NOT ONLY MORE KIWI THAN ME BUT ALSO MORE CHINESE THAN ME. We were pretty much even until he goes and asks in a very ignorant way “Do you speak Asian?” I’m actually a complete idiot when it comes to learning to speak Mandarin and I can’t read or write much and my understanding is very basic, but Jeff has mastered not only Mandarin (which is like mainstream Chinese) but also Hokkien which is a dialect (which is kinda like a sub-language. Ok, I’d explain why I’m upset why he can speak Hokkien but it’s a bit complicated.) ANYWAY: JEFF FOO CAN SPEAK MANDARIN. Full stop. End of story. Jeff wins. Jeff is more Asian than I. As you can tell, I did not take this well. Enough of that, let’s move on.
The BALL!!! To be honest it was PDA (pretty darn awesome). It’s only Tuesday and it feels like it was ages ago. Watch our vid of the ball it’s awesome! I spent most of the morning in the hairdresser’s chair drying the mousse that held my hair in curls under one of those big head dryers. Then I got my makeup done at the Estee Lauder counter at Life Pharmacy by this chick named Jas. She was cool.
We had the pre-ball at Matthews and got there by LIMO! (WTF is wrong with me? I can remember the ball and like everything about it but it doesn’t feel like it happened. It feels so weird.) Of course when we got there there were heaps of people and by the time we got in WE COULDN’T FIND A TABLE! Not that you could really move around… There were SO many tables and chairs packed into the room. The food was ok. Amazingly, I wasn’t like really hungry (like usual) and ate like a normal amount of food. The dessert was nice. The cheesecake was really good. I want some now. I also want to brush my teeth right now but I need a new toothbrush because my current one has gone all soft which means I have to attack my teeth for like 3 minutes for it to do any good. I feel so out of it right now. Oh yeah so we did SDD and then there was the After-Ball *gasp*. By the time that came around I was too tired and was fully ready for bed but I still had 4 more hours of partying to do *hooray*(sarcasm). And they didn’t have Red Bull which was stank but they did have an RTD called UP… that didn’t really work. The afterball for me was pretty average because unlike half of my friends I wasn’t hooking up/kissing/being licked by near-strangers (!!!) and the fact that I was REALLY REALLY tired didn’t help. I kept almost falling over because I was dizzy… I’m pretty sure that was because I was tired. AND FLIPPIN’ HECK, I didn’t even drink that much but I had to pee FOUR times. I only had four drinks and two of those was water. And of course they only had disgusting port-o-loos. AND IT WAS DARK. (I guess this made it easier for people to face-chew each other). Anyway, pretty soon the bus was ready to take us back to Botany and I was looking a friend (who shall remain nameless) because to be honest she was just a tad off her face when Jeff (who may or may not have been completely wasted) comes up to me and shouts at me as though I have a hearing problem “I’m more Asian than you!”. Thanks Jeff, that just made my night.
Becca, Sian and I went back to Sian’s and I had a shower and went to bed. I was surprisingly dirty, apart from the usual sweat and drink I also had black dirt crap half way up my leg. Nice.
On Sunday I had rehearsal… and I fugged up a couple of my lines as usual even though its in just over a week.
And yesterday we went to the ZOO for Bio! (Which means ANOTHER day of missed school I have to catch up on) It was pretty fun and very interesting. But I really can’t be bothered recounting that day.
TIME TO BRUSH MY TEETH!!!!!!
