So it was meant to be a surprise for Ludwig, for his birthday. Going to the bach that is. He was meant to think we were going to Hamilton for Becca’s Aunty’s birthday. Becca blurted it out that we were actually going to Waihi when his mum asked for the address. Nice one.
After the paper run and packing we finally headed off two hours than planned. Everyone was completely packed in the front and the back. Everyone being Karen (Becca’s mum) driving, John in the passenger seat and Ludwig, Becca and me in the back. There was only enough room to breathe and not much else.
Stopped off at Ngatea to buy dinner… good old fish and chips for most of us. John had Subway. We got milkshakes too. Wasn’t the brightest of ideas. They were huge and the straws were way too small. They resembled the tubular spaghetti that we had packed for Saturday night dinner. The chick who served us was really smiley
like mega smiley.
Next stop was Waihi New World. Tiny New World. We got meat and veges. Me and Becca had already bought all the fruit we would need earlier that day. Hehehehe…. So inside the New World the number of staff out number the food products. Four of them were like standing in one aisle and I saw one of them checking out Rebecca when she was checking out the sunnies they had. It’s not like they had anything better to do.
Got to the bach, hoorah! Unpacked rather quickly and decided to take a midnight-ish time stroll. In reality it was like 9/10, I can’t remember. We (John, Becca, Ludwig and me.) walked down to the beach without the new torch that didn’t work. It was sandy. We walked parallel to the water and there was a bonfire with what we assumed to be drunk people. After gazing at the stars, waving at the drunk people and singing Christmas carols we back. The ultimate geniuses we are we decided to start a game of Cranium even though we were mega tired. We played for half an hour and only got a quater way ’round the board cos we couldn’t answer half the questions. Went to bed.
Woke up the next morning. YAY! BEACH! But we waited until the water heated up a bit. We completed the game of Cranium, me and Becca won. WOoOoO. Got changed and sunblocked and got to the beach sometime after 10. I can’t remember how far past ten though.
The water was cold and a lot of screaming went on as we tried to adjust to the watery temperature. Ludwig, who has not one ounce of fat on him freezed meanwhile me and Becca who are covered in what we dubbed “child bearing fat” found it nice. The relationship between the water and Ludwig did not go very well. After an undisclosed amount of time we got out and played in the sand.
SAND! We made a thingy, um. It was a pool…. In the sand. Like a spa pool. It took us ages and didn’t have much shape. So we gave up after a while and took a walk down the beach while John worked on a project of his own. Further down we made stickk figures of our selves using beachy materials. Shells for head, bits of bark for togs and stick thingies for our appendages. It was a beautiful piece of art.
Went back up and aided John in making his sand spa. After a while John noticed that the shaped looked kinda like a foot. Like a giant footprint. We had to go back to the bach for lunch even though our spa wasn’t finished.
Pizza and yum crackery snack stuff. YUM. We waited until it was all properly digested and went to the dairy to grab some rubbish bags. There were none but there were V-Pops and Chewys. John and Becca got V-Pops and me and Ludwig shared a Chewy which John shouted us :D He got a ten cent discount too. Played on the baby playground and since everyone was cold due to the wind we went back.
At 3 we went back to the beach. Our spa was engulfed by the waves and only a little hump of sand remained of it. Sadness. Oh well. We walked up the beach to this piece of driftwood that, from far away, looked like a giraffe. We stood on it for a while. Then we left it. It was too cold to get back in the water. We lied on the beach and talked. That was fun. This was the point when Ludwig wanted to hug the sand ‘cos it was nice and soft-ish. This lead to him wanting to hump the sand. That was funny. We went back up at about 6.
Made dinner. Woo hoo…. yum Spag Bol. I made the salad
so proud of myself. Ludwig made the pasta and Becca made the mince. It was super filling.
Later that night we started another game of Cranium. I and John versus Ludwig and Becca. Ate some cheesecake which we bought especially for Ludwig. Sometime during that we went for a walk around the houses to take a look at the Christmas lights. There weren’t that many. One house went all out. There were moving lighted reindeer. Walked around more. Luckily Karen knew where we were going ‘cos it was dark and confusing.
Played more cranium, me and John won. Went to bed.
Woke up and I had some left over Spag Bol. I eat lots for breakfast. Yay. Played more Cranium. Me and Ludwig lost. Oh well. Went to the beach. I love the ocean. In the water for ages and ages while Ludwig stayed on the beach reading old Readers’ Digest magazine. His feet got burnt really bad. Which is strange.
Went back for more pizza and leftovers for lunch. Can you tell that I’m getting sick of writing? I’m not even making full sentences.
Packed and cleaned. While everyone else cleaned and packed Ludwig got to write in the Bach Book. He wrote a novel 9 pages long and he included diagrams. It was fun reading.
Headed off sometime in the afternoon. Tried playing more Cranium in the car. Didn’t work too well. Stop in Ngatea at the Copper Kettle for some afternoon tea. I got a Steak Pie.
Stayed at Becca’s for dinner and Ludwig did too. Went home at 8 that night. Yay. I’ve finally finished. That took forever to write and wasn’t even that interesting to go over. The main parts of our weekend was beach, food and Cranium. Yay, what more could you ask for.
