Novia Ng… 3 news

Ok.. this will teach me to never leave the computer when Genie’s around.

3 news, my preferred daily informant, just outraged me today. I couldn’t believe what I was listening to. For those of you who didn’t watch the 3 news Wednesday 25 October there was a story about how we, as a global nation are using too much of our natural resources. Not surprising, but it did put a damper on my dinner time. Apparently New Zealand is in the top ten users of natural resources per head. Woo hoo. Doesn’t that make us feel good? And we thought we were clean and green. According to scientists by the year 2050 we will need three Earths to keep up with the resources we need. I will be 60 by then and I’m planning on living until I am 100 so hopefully will they find a solution *fingers crossed*.

After the depressing news that we are going to run out of natural resources they ran a story from Australia about how a teen girl was assaulted by 12 teen boys who videoed it all on their cell phones, made DVDs and then sold them. As well as this they also had how to made a chlorine bomb and them firing a firework on a sleeping homeless man. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?! This made me angry not only because of their stupid actions but also for their “punishment.” They had identified the “ring-leader” of the group, I guess this was the boy who was selling the DVDs, and one of his accomplice. Their punishment was suspension from school. SUSPENSION ISN’T A FUCKING PUNISHMENT. It’s giving them a freaking holiday. I have had little involvement with suspension but as far as I know it’s just not being allowed to go to school. Who came up with that idea? Loser. Anyway, it’s ok because the police and the school is working with the DVD to find who the boys are. They showed bits of the DVD and it wasn’t exactly hard to see what they looked like. When all of the boys are identified charges MIGHT be layed. MIGHT?! They set the girl’s hair on fire, raped her and probably did other things they left out of the report. This would break down any person mentally and emotionally as well as physically, but charges MAY be layed. So if they aren’t, they’re getting off more or less scot-free?? Oh, and apparently the girl was a willing participant…… good for her.

Now to the political news. The hottest topic in Parliament House today: Will the MP’s let people who work in the building to use the new swimming pool? Rumors are flying around that National are against regular people using the swimming pool which, if plans go accordingly, will have a new gym to accompany it. National MP Lockwood Smith, one of the fitter National MP’s, side-stepped the question and said something random like “No, I use the gym up the road. I like to exercise in public.” I’m guessing the question was whether he would use the gym /pool. My question is: WHY THE FUCK IS THERE A SWIMMING POOL IN/AROUND PARLIMENT BUILDING? There are literally a MILLION different things they could have used the money on. I have listed a few: feeding the homeless, giving it to a charity like women’s refuge or Auckland city mission, funding schools, research for cancer, helping clean up the environment, getting people off the streets, promoting more 5 plus a day or push play campaigns, getting rid of drugs, giving it away as a prize to the poorest family (who deserves it) in New Zealand. I know that the money to build a swimming pool wouldn’t have much of an impact on most of these causes but what I’m angry about the most is the fact that they are spending time in Parliament discussing who get’s to swim in it and that it made it to the 6 o’clock NEWS! Who’s idea was it to stick a freakin’ pool in parliament?? Don’t they have their own pools at their own home?? The people who control our nation are probably being paid more than our parent’s combined wages and they are bitching about who can swim in the new pool??

What has this world come to?
