Holy cow. So I was totally at the MCR concert last night and it was the best concert experience of my life.
BTW this blog post will be written with the help of Genie! Yay.
Novia: So Genie how would you describe the concert in three words?
Genie: Um… I don’t know?… So fucking amazing.
Let’s start the day at the beginning… with Genie…
So I woke up at 5 in the morning and caught the first bus to the city (to see a marching band) which was at 6.15 with Laura. While we were on the bus Lynda texted me saying that there were people already!!! When we got there we sat at Gate C with all the smokers trying to swap the Gate C tickets for Gate G tickets, plus it was raining and cold. We finally got rid of the tickets around 9 and hung out with Lynda, Lycia, James and Tim. We still had AGES before the concert… we went to KFC to get some food and to like pass time.
Novia: Me and Becca finally got there around 2 after judging “talent” quest. I seriously started feeling sick about getting off at the right bus stop but we found Vector in the end. When we got there it was dry and not raining. We didn’t really do much in the time between arriving and the barriers going up. Me, Becca and Laura went for a trip to the toilets at McDonalds and Genie showed Lycia and Lynda where their taxi was picking them up. So it was around this time when they left which was about 3.00 that the barriers went up. I started to freak out that they weren’t going to be able to get back in the line… but they saw made it just in time…. ANYWAY we were standing at one of four doors… there were two lines at Gate G and only one of them was going in. The security guard comes along to our line (where we were about 8ish from the front) and said that it was through the other door that they were letting us go through. This meant that we had to push and squeeze our way into the other line. No one in either of these lines was really happy. So they set up the barriers and Genie and Lycia got separated from us, but it was ok because they were furthur ahead than we were. Laura, Becca, James, Tim and I were on the barriers.
They started filming Select Live and there were a few times when we got in the shots, OH YEAH! He kept telling us what to do… like yell things… but we did it anyway because we were in a large crowd, we were Jermaine’s puppets… except that time when he goes “Who’s here to see Gerard Way” and I was like “Nah.” Soon after they finished filming they finally opened the doors, hallelujah!!! This was almost 5 hours after Becca and I arrived and about 12 hours after the others had arrived.
I started squealing when I got inside the areana, which is MASSIVE. After a quick trip to the toilet we stood up and waited for people to start playing. Of course no one really wanted to see the start-up bands which were Streetwise Scarlet, who performed at our school, and Circa Survive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIPH5qpbgro, who are this American band and were really good live. There were a couple of people in the audience who just came to see them. There was this one guy who was near me who was singing hard out and the lead singer kept coming over to him and like singing to him, I bet that guy felt special. So during the first two acts pretty much everyone around me wasn’t even moving. Why would we want to waste energy on these bands that we don’t really want to see? I seriously don’t know why I didn’t know this when we went to Fall Out Boy because I wasted my engery on the stupid starting bands Goodnight Nurse and False Start and then didn’t get to stay in the mosh for FOB, it was lame. SO glad that Goodnight Nurse were playing, so sick of them. They played before MCR at Big Day Out as well. Hahaha, it was funny… um during the time between the end of Circa Survive and MCR there was a scrap just behind us (Lynda, Becca, Laura and I) between this guy and this chick. They were retards.
As soon as the house lights went down the ENTIRE areana started to scream (of course). Then a slow piano song started playing (I didn’t recognise it) then the strobe lights started and it was hard enough for me to see because I’m short but the strobes made it hard to see what was happening on stage. It was completely awesome though. The first song they played was “This Is How I Disappear” and there was flames and fireworks, holy cow the concert was freaking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The whole time I was only 3rd person from the back and was acting like a total spaz (hahaha ginga kid {joke}) especially when Gerard said “I’m sorry for all of those that went to the Big Day Out…” or something like that and for some unknown reason I went apeshit just because I was there. Whatever. The security guards at the front kept bringing out the water bottles so the crowd wouldn’t dehydrate except most of them were bad at aiming so you only got a tiny bit of water in your mouth and heaps down your front. There was a piano interlude by the guy on the keyboard which was really good and a guitar solo by Ray. I loved every song they played
Genie got a couple of songs on her camera which I was going to put a video on here except I first have to load it up to YouTube which takes an eternity so I’m not going to.
Straight after the concert finished I found Becca and Tim and we all freaked out about how awesome it was and embraced each other in a sweaty, watery hug. We then met everyone outside and Genie had bought me a shirt! YAY! We had to rehydrate and get some food because were so hungry, my stomach felt like it was on the verge of collapse. We went to Foodtown and then to McDonalds and then went back to Vector to wait for our taxi where I saw Toby who also enjoyed the concert. We (Genie, Laura, Becca and I) got home around 12.40am and had showers and talked about the concert for ages. One of the best nights EVER!!!!
