Ka-ching!

Last night was the CASINO NIGHT fundraiser for our French trip. I was about to explode with the annoyance and anger toward selling the tickets because it was so hard. I managed to sell 6 altogether! Do you believe it? YAY. It was mainly thanks to Mr Kirkham who also came along with his wife and a family couple. That was FOUR tickets :D

It was pretty fun because we got to go around and watch people win/lose (imaginary) money and serve food/(drinks… we weren’t meant to serve drinks but some of us did anyway… with adult supervision.) When we had nothing to do we just wandered between the tables which I did lots with Danielle. I was wandering around with Genie and Lutonia when we saw Mr Kirkham and asked how it was going. We tried to win him some money at the roulette table by picking numbers but it didn’t work out too well and in the end he decided we were bad luck.

Throughout the night we were sneaking food from the food tables because most of us hadn’t had any dinner so there was lots of lurking and sneaking around that area. I think I about half of the spring rolls. YUM!

Towards the end of the night they had a roulette competition with the biggest winners to see who was the best gambler or something. We were sitting at the front and Mr Kirkham came up to us and said he was leaving so he gave us his winnings!!!!!! 7 million 77 thousand. There were about 7 of us and we jogged to the prize tables to see what we wanted the most. I, personally, didn’t want anything in particular but Sophie, Genie and Jenny wanted these particular books however they were all in separate piles so they sneakily put all of the books that they wanted into one pile… hehehe….

Finally it came time to get prizes. They basically start with the player with the highest check and they pick a prize, but all of the prizes are written on envelopes which are placed face down *gasp* so you don’t know what you’re picking. We were praying that we would pick a book prize. So me, Genie, Jenny and Chelsea walked up to the table wondered which envelope to pick. Jenny decided to pick the one that had a piece of grass or something on it because someone said it was “destiny” or something. We turned it over and it said …. WALL PLAQUE…. we picked the one that was least ugly… but not the one that Danielle wanted which was a pretty cool one with a hippy van on a beach. Sophie kept saying it was “fugly” and Genie just kept saying “Wall Plaque!!!”. It was fair to say that we were rather disappointed. When Danielle’s dad went to get his prize he got a pile of books but Danielle convinced him to sneak the plaque that she wanted and leave the books. If we had put the pile of books at the back then they would have been the books Danielle would have won and we could have swapped… GARRRRR…

We have collectively decided to give it to Mr Kirkham because none of us want it and we think he could hang it in his office… or house because I asked Lisa if it fit with their house and she said yes (she went to their house to baby-sit their daughters.)

WALL PLAQUE!!!!!
