This is that time of year when baby animals start to arrive and coincidently people seem to have their birthdays clustered around this area as well. Labour Day was Zak’s 17th birthday!!!!! (and also my primary school friend Erin Berry.)
We celebrated by going to do archery… I’d only done it once before and I remember being really not that great. Well it was pretty much the same this time. I managed to get a massive bruise on the inside of my arm and not hit any balloons. The boys seemed much better than the girls. After getting started with practice targets we went out into the bush and hunted real fake animals. I was lame at this too. If this was a real life situation I would have injured the poor animals and then they would have tried to get away with a giant arrow sticking out of their face, which Mrs Henry said was cruel and that is why we aim for the heart.
I must say that I am definately not cut out for farm life… I hate mud/muddy paddocks. I could barely make it across the field to get to the bush course let alone do any sort of dirty work. Anyway… we were on our way back and Lisa pushed Felix into a giant muddy patch. Felix managed to make it out however his right shoe didn’t. When Zak pulled it out there was a little puddle of muddy water inside the shoe. He threw it away with the rest of the junk that surrounded the driveway to the archery club.
We went back while some of the others had to go/drop off people at an “International Students thing”… or had to finish hard materials work. The rest of us went and played on playgrounds and went for a drive… the usual when your 16/17. It was pretty fun except my hands got really sore and I found the following day that my muscles weren’t happy about the monkey bars either. Michael has a nice as car.
Back at Zak’s we got out Trivial Pursuit. It was pretty intense, Ludwig was getting a bit excited. During this three and a half hour game the others came back and we had some really yum food, like the stuff we had at the after-ball… (Big thank you to Mrs Henry for making really yum food and taking us out to/teaching us archery.) I almost won the game by the way however it was Zak who came from behind and beat me and Ludwig & Matthew (who were a team which led to some entertaining question-answering). I had to leave soon after that.
All in all I had a fun time with friends and felt like I got a bit of exercise for the day (which has seriously been lacking in my life since hockey finished.)
